Dr. Yanjun QIU, Professor of School of Civil Engineering and Director of Key Laboratory of Highway Engineering of Sichuan Province, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China. Dr. QIU got his Bachelor in Railway Engineering and Master in Geotechnical Engineering in 1985 and 1988, respectively, from Southwest Jiaotong University. After 6 years of teaching and research work with Institute of Geotechnical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, Dr. QIU went to University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA, for PhD study with the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. QIU came back to Southwest Jiaotong University right after graduation from University of Arkansas with PhD degree and became a professor in 1998.

Dr. QIU started to advise PhD students in 2000 and have trained 11 PhD students and 35 Master students since 2000. Major research fields include transportation soils, asphalt mix design and rail engineering. Dr. QIU published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed Journals and international academic conference proceedings.
